Graham’s Family Dairy Scoops Top Industry Prize With Isle Of Skye Sea Salt Butter

Scotland’s largest independent dairy wins Dairy Product of the Year for its Isle of Skye Sea Salt Butter at the 2025 Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards

Graham’s Family Dairy is raising a glass (of milk) to celebrate another landmark win after its Isle of Skye Sea Salt Butter was named Dairy Product of the Year at the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards 2025 ceremony which took place last night (Thursday 4) in Glasgow.

Graham’s Isle of Skye Sea Salt Butter picked up the prestigious accolade – a product steeped in tradition. The family has been dairy farming for over 80 years, with Grandma Isabella Graham first churning rich, creamy butter in the farmhouse kitchen in Bridge of Allan. She knew instinctively just how long to churn to achieve a taste like no other – a recipe that is still faithfully followed today. Made purely with pasteurised cream and a touch of natural, unrefined Isle of Skye Sea Salt, it offers an extra special taste experience rooted in heritage.

Also nominated in the hotly contested category was Gold Top Milk, one of Graham’s Family Dairy’s best-loved products. Crafted from the family’s own herd of Jersey cows, its story began when Dr. Robert Graham introduced just 20 Jersey cows from Windsor – descendants of the Queen’s own herd. Today, Graham’s Family Dairy proudly produces 90% of all Jersey milk in the UK. Naturally richer and creamier, Gold Top boasts 18% more protein and 20% more calcium than standard milk. This latest accolade adds to the momentum of a record-breaking year for the family business, with soaring sales, expanded supermarket listings across the UK, and a string of Great Taste Award wins recognising the outstanding quality of Graham’s products.

Robert Graham, Managing Director at Graham’s Family Dairy said:
“The care and craft that go into making our butter products are the same principles that have guided our family farm for generations. This award is a tribute to the dedication of our team and the loyalty of our customers. More than 85 years on we remain true to our family values – producing delicious,
high-quality natural dairy with care – and recognition like this is a wonderful reminder of why we do what we do.
“The demand for our butter tells us that people are more conscious about what they’re eating, valuing quality and flavour over convenience. This points towards the wider trend in consumers looking for more traditional products, focusing on natural ingredients – which is something we pride ourselves on as a family farming business. Since my grandpa founded the family business back in the 1930s, we’ve always believed in working with local producers and keeping our ingredients simple, allowing the great taste to shine through.”

The Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards celebrate the businesses and products that
represent the very best of Scotland’s world-class food and drink industry. The family business recently scooped up a mix of awards as part of the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme; The Great Taste Awards 2025. The brand’s Raspberry Kefir Drink; Natural Kefir Drink; Natural Kefir Yogurt; and Isle of Skye Sea Salt Butter were each recognised with 2-star accreditation. As well as the string of 2-star Great Taste Awards, Graham’s Mango, Passion Fruit & Papaya Kefir Drink; Natural Greek Yogurt Pouch; and Cottage Cheese all picked up 1-star awards. These accreditations build upon last year’s award-winning products, which continue to hold their 1- star ratings, including Gold Top Milk, Organic Whole Milk with Cream at the Top, Cottage Cheese, and Mango, Passion Fruit & Papaya Kefir Yogurt.

A proud family business, Graham’s Family Dairy has been dedicated to crafting high-quality dairy products since 1939, made with care for its cows, people, and customers. That commitment is resonating with supermarkets, shoppers and taste-testers nationwide, with more of the brand’s products making their way onto household tables than ever before.
