Graham’s confirms its support of the family friendly Games

Graham’s The Family Dairy, Scotland’s largest independent dairy has once again highlighted its firm commitment to support local community initiatives with its decision to sponsor the Bridge of Allan Highland Games for the third consecutive year.

The family dairy, renowned for its award-winning range of quality milks, butters, cream and ice-cream, will be the main sponsor for the 159th anniversary of the Bridge of Allan Highland Games, to be staged on Sunday 8 August; from 9am.

Organisers anticipate up to 10,000 spectators will flock to the Stirlingshire village for a packed schedule of family entertainment including heavyweight events, athletics, traditional highland dancing, cycling, wrestling and the sound of over 1600 pipers from around the world performing their ‘last blaw’ before the World Championships.

The Stirlingshire event is regarded as one of the largest pipe band contests outside a major pipe band championship.

STV weather presenter Sean Batty will be this year’s chieftain, following in the kilted footsteps of the likes of Fred MacCaulay (entertainment) Ally Hogg (Scottish rugby), Terry Butcher, Berti Vogts, Gary Caldwell, Ally McCoist (football) William Wallace (from the Monument), Kirsty Young (TV) and The Rt, Hon. George Reid (from Bridge of Allan).

Carol Graham, marketing director of Graham’s The Family Dairy, commented: “As a local farming family and dairy business, we are very proud of our Stirlingshire roots and strong links with the community of Bridge of Allan.  71 years after my grandfather Robert started the dairy, Graham’s The Family Dairy is very pleased to once again be supporting our local ‘friendly games’ that is renowned for its family fun and quality of traditional Scottish entertainment.”

Sandy Nicol, secretary of the Bridge of Allan Highland Games believes the 2010 games will be better than ever: “With free seating around the main arena, where all the traditional Highland Games activities take place, a large fairground and almost 80 stands, the Bridge of Allan Games offer something for everyone.

“It is tremendous that Graham’s The Family  Dairy has again given its considerable support to this annual event, ensuring that we can continue to invest in the future of our local, friendly highland games and achieve the milestone of the 160th Games.”
